Welcome...

Oaksey is a friendly village with a great community spirit which everyone is anxious to preserve in the future. We are a fortunate village with our own church, shop/post office, pub, village hall and a thriving Primary school. We have playing fields in the centre of the village and a 9-hole golf course and leisure park at the edge. Country walks and footpaths give ample opportunity for relaxation whilst, a few miles distant, is the Cotswold Water Park, the centre for many types of aquatic activity, wild life conservation and fishing. there are also various social , leisure and fund raising activities in the village providing opportunities for residents to meet and enjoy each others company.

Arabian Nights

Treat your children to a performance at

Oaksey Village Hall on Friday 12 March at 6.00pm

Scheherazade, the greatest of all storytellers, presents three fabulous tales from her Arabian Nights : a tale from the desert, one from the bottom of the ocean and a third straight from a donkey’s mouth! Genies, camels, flying carpets and suspicious ne’er-do-wells - in a show dripping with lavish colours and textures, Theatre of Widdershins will transport you to a magical land with roasting deserts, sand dunes, scented markets and fish filled seas using puppets, props and storytelling and accompanied by an original and wonderfully atmospheric soundtrack. Arabian Nights can be enjoyed by children of all ages from four years old and families and adults generally.

Tickets : Adults and Senior Citizens £5.50, Children & Concessions £3.50, Family Ticket (2 adults & 2 children under 16) £16.00, from 01666 575233

Pot Holes
You may be aware that Wiltshire Council have mounted a massive ‘pot-hole filling’ campaign since the bad weather wrecked the road surfaces everywhere – 450 a day compared with the usual 200 a week. We have made sure that they know how bad our roads in the village are.

Parish Precept
The Parish Council voted in January to keep the level of parish precept again at the same level for this year. We hope you approve our attempt to minimise cost increases for local residents but predict that, in order to maintain our momentum in building up useful reserves, it would be unlikely that the 2011 precept would be similarly stationary.

ICT (Information Communication Technology) Ofsted Subject Inspection
Our ICT (Information Communication Technology) Ofsted Subject Inspection on 21st January was very successful, identifying that achievement in ICT is good and “attitudes and behaviour in ICT lessons are outstanding.” The children arrive in school with broadly in line with expectations and leave the school with “attainment above expectations …. and … in lessons observed were extremely eager to do well and support each other to overcome difficulties and tackle new challenges”.  The Inspector also recognised that lessons are well planned and resources resulting in all children, whether those with special educational needs or gifted and talented pupils, made equally good progress. He commented on the radio station, and live broadcasts can be heard as a podcast on the school website – www.oaksey.wilts.sch.uk.
