Welcome... Oaksey is a friendly village with a great community spirit which everyone is anxious to preserve in the future. We are a fortunate village with our own church, shop/post office, pub, village hall and a thriving Primary school. We have playing fields in the centre of the village and a 9-hole golf course and leisure park at the edge. Country walks and footpaths give ample opportunity for relaxation whilst, a few miles distant, is the Cotswold Water Park, the centre for many types of aquatic activity, wild life conservation and fishing. there are also various social , leisure and fund raising activities in the village providing opportunities for residents to meet and enjoy each others company. We can now start to operate the ‘Community Speedwatch’ scheme previously described – volunteers from the community mounting speed gun checks in the village. In fact the Police list our speeding problem as a current ‘priority’ now. We do need volunteers to be part of a team that can spend an hour or two by the side of the road from time to time. Almost all on the Parish Council seem to want to ‘have a go’! Please contact me if you could give this the time. We firmly believe that increasing the frequency of visual reminders to drivers of the speed limit will have an effect. Robin Rogers.
FoOS Funding Raising Success
In true FoOS style the Christmas Fair was a success raising much needed funds towards our target of £5k for an outdoor covered seating area / out-door classroom that will benefit all the children. All the hard work by everyone involved & the fabulous donated prizes for the Wall of Bids raised an amazing £1488.28! So a huge thank you to absolutely everyone involved for your support.
